Pi Day at CDS

Pi Day RoyaltyWhat a successful MathCounts Club celebration of Pi Day on March 14, 2011.

We crowned our first King and Queen of Pi. (The Royal Family was determined by their ability to recite the most digits of Pi). Congratulations to Middle School students Madison Boos-Queen and Brenden Haviland-King. Upper Elementary students Kristin Roy-Queen and Samuel Ogden-King

We raffled off a dozen pies and sold pie slices during lunch (provided by Math Count Students).

We raffled off the honor of ‘pie-ing’ Mr. Dinger and Ms. Hernandez- (yes, that means a pie to the face) what good sports they were!

We learned that with every circle – the circumference of the circle divided by the diameter is…. Pi!!

And lastly, we raised almost $500 of which the students decided to use half to purchase educational math games for the Grace House and the other half will be donated to the Red Cross for disaster relief in Japan.

Congrats to the MATHCOUNT Students for a job WELL DONE!!
