Living History Museum

Today, the Upper El building was turned into a “Living Museum” when all 35 students dressed as famous characters (based on biographies they had read) and posed as wax figures. When the guests arrived (other students, teachers and some parents) and tapped the “wax” figures, they sprang to life and briefly shared their personal histories. Guests had a chance to meet such diverse historical figures as the Wright Brothers, Jane Goodall, Louis Braille, Judy Blume and John F. Kennedy. The benefits of this activity were many and included the acquisition of new knowledge, increased interest in history, additional reading practice, exposure to the biographical genre, improving summarization skills and practice in public speaking. We are so proud of all of our Upper El students!photo 5
